Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel this month said her organization will hold U.S. President Joe Biden and other Democrats accountable for putting out false narratives about Georgia’s voter integrity law.
McDaniel, in a press release, said Democrats’ distortions cost Georgia millions of dollars when Major League Baseball pulled events out of the state.
McDaniel laid out her plan on the FOX Business channel this week.
“We took out ads in all the Black newspapers, letting them know how much money was lost by the MLB moving out of Cobb County. It was $100 million,” McDaniel said.
“We have billboards up in Georgia. We are fighting back.”
One RNC ad was an open letter to MLB ownership, as shown in an RNC press release.
“Your decision to betray Georgians was based on false information spread by partisan politicians acting in bad faith. Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams, and the Democrat Party have been lying to you about Georgia’s new election law, Senate Bill 202,” McDaniel wrote in the letter.
“Joe Biden claimed that the election law restricts access to the ballot box. In truth, it expands access, as reported by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Joe Biden claimed that the new law makes voting hours end early. In truth, it does not, as reported by The Washington Post. Joe Biden claimed that the law prohibits voters in line from receiving food and water. In truth, the law prohibits political activists from delivering food and water, a practice known as ‘line warming,’ which has been abused to solicit votes illegally. Poll workers may still provide food and water. Then there’s this from Georgia Public Broadcasting: ‘One of the biggest changes in the bill would expand early voting access for most counties.’”
Georgia’s new voter integrity law requires voter ID on all absentee ballots, increases oversight of local election boards that fail to follow state election law, and secures drop boxes around the clock. Major League Baseball officials announced this month they will relocate the 2021 All-Star Game and MLB Draft, originally scheduled for Atlanta, to another location. MLB officials specifically cited Georgia’s voter integrity law, also known as Senate Bill 202 as the reason.
RNC officials said in their press release that they are on the ground in Atlanta and their regional communications teams will coordinate with local media to counteract Democrats’ false narrative surrounding the Georgia law.
